Before pop up blockers were built into web browsers, pop ups and redirects to scummy websites were causing havoc among web surfers. The next trending thing is to pop up warnings on Mobile Smart phones, warning of virus, security and other threats. The difference is that on mobile smartphones, the ‘advert’ takes over your entire screen and seems very important, red, flashy, dangerous and immediately the average user is inclined to click, of course to be redirected to purchase and payments screen… Beware and follow the golden advice of Brian Krebs: ‘If you didnt go looking for it, dont install it!’ according to Brian, a corollary of this should be, ‘If you intend to install it, make sure you have researched it.’
