There is a lot of hype around the use of AI in business.
The truth is that AI will affect your business and yourself directly and in ways that will require you to change.
In the coming weeks I will cover the changes that you can expect in the future, the positive side of this technology as well as the downside of AI.
The first thing to be aware of is that terminology, the term “AI” and “Artificial Intelligence” is not what the words mean. an LLM (large language model) is not self conscious and does not have “intelligence” in the traditional sense of the word. Some engineers have started referring to GI or “General Intelligence” to define self awareness and “soul”
Anyway, as far as your business is concerned here is what AI is useful for, for your small business in 2027: *Writing letters *web site content *generating images for your website or marketing campaigns *dealing with basic client contact *client service and support *sales quotes, sales engagement and sales orders *managing your diary, appointments and scheduling. AI is also really great at basic crm stuff, like birthdays, aniversaries and remembering to send gifts, flowers or chocolate.
With the above in mind, you as a person and you as in your business will also be on the other side of AI.
You will be increasingly be fobbed of to an AI assistant.
Recently I did a small experiment and had my AI assitant try to complete a specific task with another AI assistant. The results were not great because a few days, and many tokens later, the two AI assitants were still at it, both being very friendly, patient and helpful with each other but unfortunately both were stuck in a never ending loop with each other as what the one wanted the other one specifically did not want to provide. When AI asistants perform multi level tasks and “make decisions” on many different levels, entering an “AI loop” is very real for both humans and AI. Humans end up shouting “HUMAN” at the AI and the AI could be instructed to disregard requests for human support or disregarding request for human operators.
In the next weeks I will be discussing how you can practically use AI in your small business as well as how you can manage your interactions with AI
