The movie is visually stunning but the completely predictable plot is too obvious and makes it hard to enjoy the movie for what it is supposed to do. An escapist should be able to get lost in the plot and characters and although the excellent graphics and sound makes nice eyecandy, the expectation bar was too high going in. The central plot that all great civilisations self destruct and rehash of other movie ideas is also boring and the lack of rich characters combined with obvious dialogue means that this movie is made for the mass of people that hardly ever watch or understand sci-fi movies.
So, if you want to enjoy Prometheus, go in with low expectations, expect a 2 out of ten movie and be pleasantly surprised when you realise it is 3 out of ten.
