Vodacom has been listed at SORBS (http://www.sorbs.net/lookup.shtml?196.11.146.166) as sending SPAM and thousands of email servers all over the world no longer receive email from Vodamail at this time.
Next time when you get an email advertising Viagra, Cialis or some lowlife from Nigel doing garden refuse removal or a Nigerian 419 scammer, check if it did not maybe come from Vodacom.
Vodacom has a history of ignoring abuse complaints. Quite possibly staff or management at Vodacom assume that they are too important or too powerful to be troubled by others complaining about abusive behavior from their network, one can only guess as responses from them never occur. As anyone can easily see, the listing at SORBS was done on the 12th of May, of course Vodacom is far too important to be troubled by this listing 🙂 It is only when it becomes Spamcop, Gmail, Yahoo and the rest of the world that ceases to relay email for an entire net range, that they may decide to possibly, maybe do something. Or not. Maybe Vodacom users only send email to other Vodacom users 🙂
In the past, I have usually just rerouted their email or blacklisted a specific header as complaining to this ignorant and abusive giant will get you nowhere. So, it is with a happy heart that I note their listing on SORBS and soon, when others list them as well, it will be interesting to see if only the 196.11.146.0 – 196.11.149.255 range will be affected or if it is going to filter through to 41.0.0.0 – 41.0.255.255 as well.
O well, what comes around goes around.
